Introduction to Forces

We have all been dealing with them all our lives. We all use force to do things every day. We ride bicycles by pushing on the paddles, we push on the keyboards to type, we pull our wallets out of our pockets, and we pull on doors to open them. In each of these instances and many others, we use a push or a pull. This push or a pull is what is called a force. That was all we understood about forces for thousands of years, until Isaac Newton came along. He laid out the relationships between forces and objects which help us use forces more effectively. These relationships are called Newton’s Laws.
