Center of Gravity
What is Center of Gravity?
It is a point where weight of the object appears to be concentrated.
Is Center of Mass different from Center of Gravity?
Yes. While center of mass is the point where mass of an object appears to be concentrated, center of gravity is the point where it weight appears to be concentrated. But when gravity is acting uniformly overy the whole object (which is most of the times), center of gravity is identical to center of mass (located at the same point)
When is center of mass different from center of gravity?
When gravity is acting unequally on the whole body. Like the tall building shown above. The force of gravity on top of the building is lower than that at the bottom. So center of gravity will be lower.
