Center of Mass
In simple terms, center of mass of an object is a point where all of its mass appears to be concentrated.
Why is Center of Mass important?
It helps us describe the motion of objects with complicated shapes. Consider the car in the above image. How will it move when acted upon by an external force? How will each point on the car move? Instead of this complicated calculating, we can pretend this mass is concentrated at a point instead and that is its center of mass. If a force is applied on an object at its center of mass, the object would move in the same way as a point object with the same mass.
